Ban Mercury, the Poison & Protect Our Future

An oath was taken by the girls of YWCA junior Girls’ High School in an Awareness Campaign. They promised to avoid all sorts of products containing mercury and also shouted together saying, “Ban Mercury, the Poison & Protect Our Future.” The campaign was organized by ESDO as a part of their School Awareness Activities under the program “Green Youth For Toxic & Pollution Free World.” The aim of this campaign was to raise awareness among the students, the future leader of our country.

The campaign was a 4 hour long program. The event began with an inspirational, informational and instructional speech delivered by Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of ESDO. The event was arranged with consecutive educative sessions, the most prominent part of which is a presentation on mercury, its uses & deleterious health impacts conducted by Sayda Mehrabin Shejuti. Through the presentation she comprehended most of the facts regarding mercury, its uses and the resulting health impacts and suggested to alternate mercury containing products into safer ones. Students attentively listened to the presentation session after which they asked their queries about different facts regarding mercury and its health related issues.
Following this session, students were assigned to articulate their mind through poster development and writing awareness messages. The students participated at this competitive session with intense interest and passion.
ESDO is trying to circulate awareness messages all over the country regarding mercury pollution through this kind of campaign. Building up a conscious nation who will protect their surroundings from every sort of pollution is the most pivotal goal of this campaign.
