ESDO is the pioneer organization of global anti plastic bag campaign which had already created significant impacts in national and global policy to
ban plastic bag. It is also the organization to first introduce community based solid waste management in Bangladesh and covered many awareness programs and campaigns for the 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) mechanism.

ESDO believes that 3R mechanism will help to protect our earth from toxins and will keep the earth safe for future generation.

‘Zero waste’ comprises systematic designing and managing products and processes to avoid and eliminate toxicity of waste and materials, conserve and recover all resources through reusing and recycling.

The global population boom is thought to face with limited resources of the environment. So it has become more important to prevent waste to relieve the pressures placed on the finite resources available.

ESDO’s initiatives to make Bangladesh waste-free are:

  • Anti-polythene and plastic campaign
  • Eco-village for sustainable livelihood
  • Solid waste management
  • E-waste management
  • Modeling of Zero-Waste Village, etc.

ESDO is one of the major partner organizations of Global Anti Incinerator Alliance (GAIA) which also work for zero waste to achieve zero warming.
