Our Technical Advisers

Prof. Dr. Abul Hashem
Senior Technical Adviser

 

Professor Dr. Abul Hashem was former Chairman of Dept. of Chemistry, Jahangirnagar University. He is now working as Expert committee of Chemical Division, BSTI. Besides that, he is an executive board member of ESDO. He was also visiting Professor in different universities in Japan, Italy and Germany.

Prof. Dr. Abu Jafar Mahmud
Principle Technical Adviser 

Prof. Dr. Abu Jafar Mahmud was former Chairman of Department of Chemistry at University of Dhaka. He was also the former President of Bangladesh Chemical Society. Currently he is the head adviser  of ESDO technical team as well as executive board member of ESDO.

Dr. Shahriar Hossain
Senior  Technical Adviser

Dr. Shahriar Hossain was visiting faculty member of Georgetown University, USA. He is the pioneer person in Bangladesh on polythene bag Ban movement. Beside that, he is the current Executive Vice-President of World Alliance for mercury free dentistry.

Siddika Sultana
CEO/Executive Director

Siddika Sultana has Masters degree in Social Science. She has Diploma degrees at Development Studies and Environmental Education. Siddika is responsible for organizational and operational management, project
planning-implementation- monitoring & evaluation, supervision. Siddika also conducts capacity-building workshops on human resource development.

Shahnaz Monir
Director International Program

Masters in Social Science. Shahnaz is responsible for outreach and management of ESDOs international programs and coordinate with international partners and networks. She is based in Virginia, USA.

Dr. Greg Howard
Senior Research Fellow

Dr Howard is an environmental public health scientist with a broad background in epidemiology, toxicology, and the translation of research for policy goals.  He holds doctoral and MPH degrees from the Boston University School of Public Health, where his research addressed combination effects of chemical mixtures.  His consulting work emphasizes the creation of effective, protective, and science-based chemicals policies.  Dr Howard has been a Science & Technology Policy Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, with a posting at the US EPA, and he also has extensive experience with the EU’s REACH chemicals policy.  Dr Howard has taught environmental health at Boston University, Brown University, Boston College, and Dickinson College.  He lives in Dhaka and in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Currently, He conducts different research work at ESDO on toxic chemicals and environmental toxicity in Bangladesh.

Dr. Santona Khatun
Research Fellow

Dr. Santona Khatun is working with ESDO as a Project Advisor to develop and implement research programs, including project planning, identifying funding sources, preparing grant proposals, and presenting results or outcomes for possible publication in scientific journals. She completed her BSc and MSc. from the Department of Soil, Water, and Environment at the University of Dhaka. She achieved her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Sciences at the University of Japan. She is currently pursuing her postdoctoral research on Greenhouse gas emissions at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Sayda Mehrabin Shejuti
Project Advisor

Sayda Mehrabin Shejuti is serving ESDO as a Project Advisor of the programs pertaining to Environmental Pollution and their probable mitigation. She completed her BSc and MSc. on Soil, Water and Environment from Department of Soil and Water and Environment of the University of Dhaka. She is currently pursuing her another MSc. on Environmental Management at the University of the West of England, UWE Bristol, UK.
