World Refill Day 2022
World Refill Day, which takes place on June 16th, is a global public awareness campaign aimed at preventing plastic pollution and assisting people in living with less waste. It is a global movement to reduce plastic pollution by choosing to reuse, and we’re sending a message to the rest of the world that there are solutions to plastic pollution and the climate crisis – and that by working together, we can keep our environment, oceans, cities, and communities’ plastic-free in the future.
Individually, we may make a big difference by making small changes. But we know we won’t be able to achieve it on our own. We need large brands, corporations, and retailers to reduce their usage of single-use packaging and invest in reuse and refill solutions to minimize plastic pollution. We also require governments all across the world to keep them accountable.
Our throwaway culture is destroying the environment, and we need to quit using single-use plastic. We consume millions of tonnes of plastic every year on a global scale, and it’s becoming evident that we won’t be able to recycle our way out of our plastic crisis. Plastic not only pollutes our planet, has an impact on communities all over the world, and contributes to the climate crisis, but it also enters our bodies through the air we breathe and the food we consume.
We must urgently move from our disposable, single-use culture to a more sustainable, circular future that prioritizes reuse and refill.
