Bangladesh Driving Global Action for Mercury-Free Health and Environment!

The Minamata Convention on Mercury (COP-6) brings together nations to protect human health and the environment from mercury pollution.

Key Global Discussions at COP-6:

  • African Amendment – proposing to list dental amalgam under Annex A (Part I) for a global phase-out by 2030.
  • Global Implementation in Cosmetics – called for robust enforcement of mercury regulations in cosmetics to ensure public health protection worldwide.
  • Capacity Building & Technology Transfer – emphasized strengthening technical and financial support, especially for developing countries.
  • Collaborative Initiatives – highlighted sessions on the transition to mercury-free alternatives across healthcare, cosmetics, and industry, along with other critical environmental topics.
