A National Working Group (NWG) meeting, organized by ESDO at the Department of Environment, was held today to boost action on managing and reducing Chemicals of Concern (CoCs) and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in the textile sector. The meeting brought together government agencies, industry associations, academia, and development partners to review progress and approve key project plans for a safer and more sustainable future.
Discussions focused on strengthening policies, improving chemical import controls, engaging SMEs, enhancing coordination, expanding testing facilities, completing field surveys, and including all textile sectors, especially high-chemical-use woven factories.
