Dental Camp Promoting Safe and Mercury-Free Oral Healthcare

Environment and Social Development Organization -ESDO, in collaboration with MT Dental Center, organized a Dental Camp at Government Lalmatia Housing Society Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya to provide preventive oral healthcare services to students and teachers.

Prof. Dr. Mosharraf Hossain Khandker, Former Line Director (ME & HMD), Directorate General of Medical Education, along with volunteer dental surgeons, and ESDO team members Dr. Foijun Nahar and Dr. Sharmin Azad Liza, conducted comprehensive oral health screenings for approximately 300 students and teachers. Participants received professional consultations, early identification of dental issues, and personalized guidance on proper brushing techniques, hygiene practices, and balanced nutrition.

The medical team emphasized the importance of adopting mercury-free dental treatments as safer and environmentally responsible alternatives. Many students, who may not have regular access to professional dental care, benefited from early preventive intervention and expert advice.

The collaboration between health professionals, the school community, corporate partners, and ESDO demonstrated a multi-stakeholder approach—integrating preventive healthcare, environmental advocacy, and professional development to advance a mercury-free future for Bangladesh.
