In observance of “Plastic Free July,” Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO held another environmental education camp at Government Coronation Secondary Girls’ School and Khulna University School on July 18 and 19, 2023, as part of its Plastic Free Campus (PFC) project. Students from both schools excitedly took part in a two-day environmental education camp on the premises of their respective institutions.
Bayezid Khan, Assistant Professor of Development Studies Discipline of Khulna University, and Shornokomol Roy Head Teacher of Khulna University School attended and inaugurated the workshop in Khulna University School.
ESDO conducted sessions with the students that focused on learning about plastic pollution, its impacts, how plastic got involved in our lives, alternatives of single-use plastic, zero-waste concept, 4R concept, etc. ESDO also made arrangements for student activities such as role play on plastic pollution and awareness building, poster presentations on zero-waste home & school, refuse, reduce, reuse & refill, home composting along with outdoor activities like waste collection, identification, and segregation. They also participated in the storytelling session on plastic pollution, they had experienced in their surroundings. Students were enthusiastic about learning new concepts from this camp and actively participated in all the sessions.
