Celebrating Young Talent: World Environment Day 2024 Art Competition at Bangladesh Shishu Academy

On June 8, 2024, the Dada Bhai Hall of Bangladesh Shishu Academy became a vibrant canvas showcasing the incredible creativity and passion of 300 young artists. In a remarkable collaboration with Bangladesh Shishu Academy and Mutual Trust Bank PLC, ESDO organized an inspiring art competition to celebrate World Environment Day 2024. This year’s theme, “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience,” served as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to restore our degraded lands and enhance resilience to environmental challenges. These young artists captured the essence of this theme through their artwork, reflecting their understanding and commitment to environmental conservation.

The competition was judged by a distinguished panel of experts who ensured fairness and brought their expertise to select the best artworks. The talent and dedication of these young artists were truly inspiring, making the judges’ task both challenging and rewarding. Anjir Liton, Director General of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, praised the initiative, highlighting the importance of raising awareness about severe environmental issues and their health impacts, especially on children. “The creativity and passion displayed by these young artists are a testament to the importance of environmental education,” he said. Chowdhury Akhter Asif, Additional Managing Director & Group Chief Risk Officer of Mutual Trust Bank PLC, emphasized the pivotal role of today’s children in shaping the future. “Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders. If they grasp the importance of the environment now, they will pave the way for its protection in the future,” he remarked.

The event was graced by esteemed representatives from Bangladesh Shishu Academy, competition judges, and key figures from ESDO, including Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of ESDO, Siddika Sultana, Executive Director of ESDO, and the entire ESDO team, who played a crucial role in organizing this successful event. The event was not just a competition; it was a celebration of young talent and a significant step towards raising environmental awareness. The artworks displayed were a blend of creativity and a deep understanding of the pressing environmental issues of our time.
