📢 Successful Roundtable on PFAS Threats in Textile and Water in Bangladesh! 🌊👕

On September 28, 2024, ESDO, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Post, hosted a crucial roundtable discussion on “Persistent Threat: PFAS in Textile and Water in Bangladesh.” The event brought together experts, industry representatives, and policymakers to address the rising health risks posed by PFAS—known as “Forever Chemicals”—found in our water and textiles.

🔍 Key Highlights:
The session highlighted findings from ESDO’s recent study on PFAS contamination in water sources and textile products in Bangladesh, underscoring the urgent need for regulatory action.
The roundtable was expertly moderated by Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of ESDO, and Ms. Siddika Sultana, Executive Director of ESDO, who guided the discussions and provided valuable insights on the impact of PFAS.
Shanon Iffat Alam, Program Associate at ESDO, delivered an impactful presentation highlighting the key findings and the urgent need to address PFAS contamination.
Representatives from BGMEA, BKMEA, BTMA, and other stakeholders discussed challenges and strategies to mitigate the health risks associated with PFAS.
The discussion was led by Syed Marghub Murshed, the respected Chairperson of ESDO and former Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh, along with Mr. ASM A Khaleque, Chairperson of Bangladesh Post, who emphasized the need for immediate interventions to protect public health.
