On 20th October, ESDO gathered local administrators, bureaucrats, policy makers and members of GAIA to talk about integrating Low-M (Methane) solutions within our local waste management infrastructure.
Mariel Vilella (GAIA), who joined online, highlighted that reducing Methane is a low-hanging fruit to achieving Paris Climate Agreement and Global Methane Elimination pledge.
The local government representatives spoke extensively about the challenges faced while materializing NDCs and other climate goals on field. They stressed on the need to curate context-sensitive solutions that work well with local realities.
Dr. Shahriar Hossain acknowledged the challenges but encouraged all to look at the bright side and consider how cities outside Bangladesh achieved sustainable waste management systems despite obstacles.
