The Environment and Social Development Organization – ESDO participated in the 2nd Regional Congress on Organics and Climate, held from 23-25 September 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing together zero-waste practitioners, civil society organizations, local governments, climate advocates, and community leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region.
Noshin Naila, Assistant Program Officer, ESDO, represented the organization at the Congress, engaging in regional discussions on organic waste management, methane emission reduction, climate finance, food loss and waste, landfill crises, just transition, and zero-waste cities.
Across the two-day Congress, participants shared experiences and explored practical approaches to accelerate the transition towards source separation, decentralized composting, food waste prevention, and community-based organic waste management as climate solutions.
As part of the programme, Noshin also joined a field visit to zero-waste community models in Jakarta, gaining first-hand insights into practical approaches to source separation, organic waste recovery, composting, and community participation.
The Congress provided an important platform for ESDO to exchange knowledge, strengthen regional networks, and bring lessons from Bangladesh into the broader Asia-Pacific zero-waste movement.
ESDO remains committed to advancing Zero Waste as Climate Action and promoting inclusive, community-centered solutions for reducing methane emissions and building sustainable and resilient communities.
