We are excited to share that the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) and the Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO), in partnership with FEMNET, organized a successful Container Group Meeting on “Strengthening Due Diligence Implementation in the Textile Sector in Bangladesh” at the New Cheers Restaurant in Dhaka. This pivotal event marked a significant stride towards enhancing worker rights and environmental sustainability in the textile sector. Key stakeholders focused on improving working conditions for Ready-Made Garment (RMG) workers and mitigating health and environmental risks. Highlights include enhancing medical facilities for workers, strong commitments to upholding labor standards, and addressing environmental risks through Community-Based Monitoring (CBM) and Worker-Based Monitoring (WBM). The International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) expressed gratitude and appreciation for this initiative, emphasizing its contribution to protecting the environment and supporting the RMG industry.
