The fourteenth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal (OEWG-14) is being held from June 25 to June 28, 2024, at the International Conference Center Geneva (CICG). This event is preceded by Bureau and regional meetings on June 24, 2024.

Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of the Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO), and Siddika Sultana, Executive Director of ESDO, are attending the webinar. ESDO is intervening on the technical guidelines for the environmentally sound management of waste lead-acid batteries and providing comments on agenda item 3.b.iv (UNEP/CHW/OEWG.14/INF/15) regarding further consideration of plastic waste. Additionally, Siddika Sultana is participating as a speaker at a side event discussing the status, potentials, and risks of chemical recycling of waste plastics.
