Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO), with the generous support of UNICEF Bangladesh, successfully organized two impactful workshops on “Strengthening Regulations and Developing a Roadmap to Ensure 90 PPM Lead Standard in Industrial Paints.”
Date: December 14, 2024
Venue: Bangladesh Paint, Dyes, and Chemical Merchants Association Office
These workshops were held under the project titled “Addressing Children’s Environmental Health with Particular Focus on Lead Poisoning in Bangladesh.” The event brought together key stakeholders, including members of the Bangladesh Paints, Dyes, and Chemical Merchants Association, paint manufacturers, workers, and community members. The goal was to foster dialogue on the challenges, legal frameworks, and actionable solutions needed to ensure a lead-free environment.
Key Highlights of the Workshops
- Interactive Discussions: Participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing the challenges they face in adopting safer practices and providing valuable recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborative Action: The insights shared underscored the urgent need for collective efforts to address lead poisoning and promote safer industrial practices.
- Focus on 90 PPM Lead Standard: Both sessions emphasized the importance of adopting a 90 PPM lead standard to enhance industrial safety, protect workers, and build a sustainable, healthier future for all.
Why This Matters
Lead poisoning poses a significant threat to public health, particularly to children, who are most vulnerable to its harmful effects. By strengthening regulations and promoting the adoption of lead-free paints, we can create a safer environment for future generations.
