Today, ESDO hosted a pivotal Stakeholder Consultation Workshop at the Women’s Volunteer Association (WVA) auditorium on “Quick Assessment on Methane from Landfills in Dhaka and Recommendations for Integrating Lowering Organic Waste Methane in NDC.”

This initiative, a joint venture with the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA), seeks to evaluate the waste flow to Dhaka’s waste dumpsites and its impact on greenhouse gas emissions, aiming to advocate for policies that efficiently manage organic waste. We were honored to welcome esteemed guests: Syed Marghub Murshed Sir, Former Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh and Chairperson of ESDO.

Our respected board members also graced the event: Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Hashem Sir, Former Chairman of the Dept. of Chemistry at Jahangirnagar University and Senior Technical Adviser of ESDO, and Dr. Md. Enayet Hossain, Associate Professor at the University of Dhaka and Technical Advisor of ESDO. The session began with a warm welcome from ESDO’s Executive Director, Siddika Sultana Mam, followed by an insightful presentation by Dr. Mahfuza Parveen, Associate Professor at Daffodil International University and Executive Member of ESDO. The workshop concluded with a working group session where participants, including academicians from various universities, government representatives, and CSO members, engaged in dynamic discussions and shared valuable recommendations. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our efforts to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly future for Dhaka.
