Environment and Social Development Organization – ESDO, has started its journey in 1990 with the polythene bag ban movement and we are the pioneer organization to ban Plastic Bags in Bangladesh. From policy advocacy to both physical and online campaigning, ESDO has been campaigning successfully for many years to educate people about the adverse effects of Single-use plastic items on both our environment and human health for a long time and right now ESDO is emphasizing Single Use plastic so it can be Ban from Bangladesh. With that purpose, ESDO has drafted a roadmap that shows how we can phase out single-use plastic from our country strategically.
To share the draft roadmap and to create a sub-regional network to beat the plastic pollution crisis combined, ESDO organized a Sub-regional Campaign on banning single-use Plastic on 29 September 2021 through the online platform Zoom.
Representations from sub-regional countries such as India, and Pakistan. Nepal, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia were present at the event. The representatives we very enthusiastic and provided their valuable recommendations in both Bangladesh and their respective country’s perspective.
