On October 24, 2024, ESDO, in partnership with UNICEF Bangladesh, held a stakeholder consultation workshop in Ashulia, focusing on the dangers of lead poisoning among factory workers and local communities. The workshop aimed to raise awareness, improve occupational health standards, and identify gaps in current safety practices. Many community members, previously unaware of the hazards of lead exposure, learned to recognize symptoms potentially linked to contamination, such as polluted water and crop failure. Participants recommended comprehensive research to better understand pollution sources, urged policymakers to prioritize lead safety, and requested support for environmental health improvements. Moving forward, ESDO will continue its efforts to educate and advocate for practices that protect public health from lead exposure.
