ESDO and St. Joseph Higher Secondary Unite for a Plastic-Free, Green and Sustainable Campus

The Environment and Social Development Organization- ESDO organized an environmental education camp at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School on September 19 and 20, 2023, as a part of its Plastic Free Campus (PFC) project. Students enthusiastically participated in a range of activities that were guided by the ESDO team members during the course of the two-day environmental education camp.

Through lessons about plastic pollution, its impacts, how plastic entered our lives, single-use plastic alternatives, the zero-waste concept, the 4R concept, etc., these programs focused on helping students build their abilities. ESDO also planned student activities, such as role plays on plastic pollution and awareness raising, poster presentations on zero-waste home & and school, refuse, reduce, reuse, and refill, and home composting, in addition to indoor and outdoor garbage collection, identification, and segregation activities. They participated in the storytelling session where they shared their experiences regarding the current scenario of plastic pollution they had observed nearby along with their learnings from ESDO. The students participated actively in all of the lessons and were eager to take away new concepts from this camp.

With the cooperation of Mutual Trust Bank Limited, ESDO’s plastic-free campus (PFC) initiative successfully engages 500 students in 10 schools across 5 divisions to help prevent plastic pollution in Bangladesh.

Mehedi Hasan Zahid, the assistant manager of Mutual Trust Bank, participated on the second day of the camp at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School.
