Rainy Season in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is such a land that possesses all means of natural beauty. Her beauty is more visible due to her six different seasons. She gets a new look after every two months which makes one season. Each season has its features. We hear new sounds, feel new weather, and observe new sceneries in each different season. There is no other place in the world where the difference between each season can be felt so sharply than Bangladesh. We also feel refreshed after every season changes and boredom can never catch us in the form of weather. But among these six seasons, three seasons are more prominent due to the effect of global warming and climate change issues. These are the pre-monsoon hot season from March through May, rainy monsoon season which lasts from June through October, and a cool dry winter season from November through February.
Rainy Season arrives in the form of blessings for the Bangladeshi people right after the season of scorching heat ends. This is the second season out of the six which comes after the summer. The month of Ashar and Shraban from the Bengali calendar is the rainy season. But sometimes it may last up to Ashwin. Though this season has many disadvantages, it makes our land more fertile, cleans away all the dusts, purifies the air, and keeps our environment green, happy and lively. All the trees, plants and crops grow up with the advent of the rainy season. The farmers of our country become happy as they can till their lands and grow crops. Because, without rain, the fields cannot be plowed. Much rain is necessary for growing paddy and jute. Everything becomes full of water and the scarcity of water is no longer felt. This season is vital for the growth of vegetation too.
Kadam Phool (a type of flower) is the hit of the season. It brightens up the nature’s beauty to some other level. This round shaped white and yellow combined flower takes away our heart with its delightful smell. Not only that, but fish lovers of Bangladesh also becomes excited as this is the picking season for varieties of fishes in the ponds, lakes, rivers, and seas. Hilsa, the national fish of our country rules the fish market too in this beautiful season. Various juicy fruits such as jack-fruits, mangoes, bananas, pineapples, etc. ripen at this time and adds up to the list.
The rainy season has its disadvantages, too. Roads become muddy and slippery. Then it becomes very difficult to use the roads. Poor people living in huts also suffer a lot. They cannot go out in heavy rain to work for earning their daily bread. Many diseases like cholera, dysentery, and malaria also break out in this season. Heavy rainfall often causes the flood. Floods wash away houses, poultry, cattle, and crops and thus cause a great loss to the villagers.
Watching rain while sitting beside the window can turn anyone into a romantic poet. One can pass hours watching the rain falling on green trees, fields, and ponds. Such beauty is beyond description. Despite its vital disadvantages, it has become successful to add itself up in the top three most important seasons of Bangladesh. As it is responsive it does well to us in many ways.
