The seventh GEF Assembly is a crucial time to assess progress toward the 2030 goals of reducing pollution and environmental degradation, halting climate change, and fostering inclusive, locally driven conservation. The seventh GEF Assembly will be a crucial stocktaking session for the 2030 goals to stop pollution and nature loss, battle climate change, and advance inclusive, locally-led conservation, building on recent diplomatic achievements on biodiversity loss, hazardous chemicals, and the high seas. The Global Biodiversity Framework Fund, a new source of money for the global protection of endangered species and their ecosystems, is anticipated to be ratified by this Assembly after being approved by the GEF Council in June. The report on the seventh replenishment of the GEF Trust Fund will also be taken into consideration. Siddika Sultana, Executive Director, ESDO, is currently attending the GEF and representing ESDO with a vision to protect biodiversity, conserve nature, and combat climate change.
