The sessions focused on enhancing students’ skills by educating them about plastic pollution, its consequences, the integration of plastic into our daily lives, alternatives to single-use plastic, the concept of zero-waste, and the 4R approach (refuse, reduce, reuse, and refill). In addition, ESDO organized activities, for indoor and outdoor waste collection, identification, and segregation practices, including role plays addressing plastic pollution, awareness-raising initiatives, poster presentations promoting zero-waste practices at home and school, and discussions on refuse, reduce, reuse, and refill strategies, as well as home composting. A storytelling session encouraged students to share their experiences with plastic waste in their surroundings.
The students actively participated in all the courses and demonstrated genuine enthusiasm for learning new ideas during the camp. ESDO’s Plastic Free Campus project, sponsored by Mutual Trust Bank Limited, has been successfully implemented in 10 schools across 5 divisions, benefiting approximately 500 students. The aim is to empower these students to advocate for the eradication of plastic pollution in Bangladesh.
