Documentary Showcasing on ESDO’s Initiative of Zero Waste Village (ZWV)

Environment and Social Development Organization- ESDO, in collaboration with GAIA, organized an event titled “Documentary Showcasing on ESDO’s Initiative of Zero Waste Village (ZWV)” on 15 Jan as part of the observance of International Zero Waste Month (IZWM). The primary focus of the event was to educate and engage the community, particularly the youth of Tushvandar, Lalmonirhat in the Rangpur Division, on adopting a Zero Waste Lifestyle and enhancing their capacity to address plastic pollution.
A total of 50 participants actively took part in the event, which aimed to spread awareness and knowledge about leading a zero-waste lifestyle. The program was held at the hall room of Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) in Tushvandar, Lalmonirhat. ESDO has successfully built capacity among the community members of Betgari Union in Rangpur, where residents have embraced a Zero Waste lifestyle by segregating organic and inorganic waste, practicing composting, and utilizing biogas to reduce methane emissions. Drawing inspiration from the success in Betgari, ESDO is now committed to extending the knowledge of zero-waste living to other communities.
The event featured a documentary showcasing the Zero Waste Village, along with a workshop on combating plastic pollution. During the workshop, participants collaboratively discussed and generated ideas to address plastic pollution in their respective communities. This initiative reflects ESDO’s dedication to spreading awareness and empowering communities to adopt sustainable practices and combat environmental challenges.
