For the first time in decades, the community in the industrial zone of Ashulia are enjoying free and fresh drinking water!

The community has been suffering from various water-borne and skin diseases due to the unchecked industrial pollution in the region. However, due to the persistent efforts of the Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO and AGROHO Foundation, the people are finally enjoying a long-lost right to pure drinking water.

6 water filters have been installed as a pilot project.The filtration system follows an advanced Reverse Osmosis (RO) method to purify water from toxic chemicals and heavy metals that derive from industrial pollution.

The community members were delighted to see Additional Director General, Mr. Ziaul Haque, who carefully listened to the plight of local residents. Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of ESDO, urged all to follow a resource sharing principle and to be mindful of the water to prevent wastage.

Many of us take pure drinking water for granted, yet Ghoshbag’s people have shown patience, trust, and resilience to get access to what they consider an exclusive privilege.
