The Inception Workshop of the Plastic-Free Campus (PFC) Project was held on 30 August 2026 at the Auditorium of the Department of Environment (DoE), bringing together government representatives, development partners and other stakeholders to mark the beginning of the project’s implementation journey.
The programme was organized by the Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO with the support of Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB).
Honourable State Minister, Shaikh Faridul Islam, MP, Minister, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) attended as the Chief Guest.
Dr. Fahmida Khanom, Secretary In Charge, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, attended the programme as the Special Guest
The workshop featured remarks from senior representatives, starting from Syed Marghub Murshed, Chairperson of ESDO, Dr. Md. Lutfor Rahman, Director General, Department of Environment (DoE), Dr. Md. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of ESDO, Siddika Sultana, Executive Director of ESDO, and Mr. Usman Rashed Muyeen, DMD & GCRO, Mutual Trust Bank PLC.
Noshin Naila, Assistant Program Officer, ESDO, presented the project, its implementation plan, and previous outcomes. A video showcasing the achievements of Plastic-Free Campus Phase 1 was also screened.
Through the Plastic-Free Campus (PFC) Project, the initiative moves forward with a focus on creating more environmentally responsible campus environments and strengthening collective action towards addressing plastic pollution.
