UNICEF, Bangladesh, in technical collaboration with Environment and Social Development Organization (ESDO) organized an interface with key stakeholders from businesses in Bangladesh to understand the impact and role of the private sector in addressing lead poisoning in Bangladesh. This interaction is part of a series of national-level activities being undertaken by UNICEF, the Government of Bangladesh, and key technical resource organizations in Bangladesh to commemorate International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, held from 23 rd to 29th October 2022.
The objectives of this interface were to highlight the role of private sectors such as battery and paint associations and identify what challenges they are facing to reduce lead pollution. This session also focused on working out feasible solutions the stakeholder recommends to address this very alarming issue.
