ESDO has officially released scientific study investigating microplastics in daily oral care products, highlighting an urgent need for national safety standards! The findings revealed that 26 out of 34 toothpaste products (76.5%) tested contained detectable microplastic particles.
The landmark event brought together key voices including Syed Marghub Murshed (Chairperson, ESDO), Dr.Shahriar Hossain (Secretary General), Ms. Siddika Sultana (Executive Director, ESDO), Md. Manjurul Karim (Deputy Director, Chemical Wing, BSTI), and Mahmuda Tamanna Khan (Inspector, DoE), alongside media journalists.
The study was conducted and analyzed by ESDO’s research team: Foijun Nahar, Noshin Naila, Sadmeen Sadaf Jahan, Ayesha Mostafa, and Rifayat Khan Shishir, whose work provides critical scientific evidence to support policy and regulatory action on microplastics in consumer products.
ESDO calls on government bodies, manufacturers, and regulators to establish strict national standards, mandatory labeling, and routine monitoring to protect public health and the environment!
Consumer products must be made safe for all.
