Stakeholder Consultation Workshop in Belkuchi: Advancing Sustainable Textiles

On 23 July 2026, the Stakeholder Consultation Workshop with SME and Handloom Association Leaders, Women Textile Entrepreneurs, and Local Business Owners was jointly organized by the Department of Environment (DoE) and ESDO at the Belkuchi Upazila Auditorium, Sirajganj.
The event was graced by the UNO, alongside the Upazila Health Officer, Upazila Agricultural Officer, and the Officer In Charge (BD Police, Belkuchi, Sirajganj). The Sirajganj Zilla DoE Assistant Director was also present.
Participants included representatives from:
• Belkuchi Handloom and Powerloom Owners Association
• Tamai Handloom and Powerloom Owners Association
• Tamai Small Scale Dye Owners Association
Khalilur Rahman, Coordinator, ESDO delivered the welcome speech, while Dr. Mahfuzul Haque, Former Secretary, GoB moderated the discussions.
This workshop, held under the project of REDUCING USES AND RELEASES OF CHEMICALS OF CONCERN, INCLUDING POPS, IN THE TEXTILES SECTOR , emphasized collaboration between government, entrepreneurs, and local associations to reduce hazardous chemical use and promote sustainable textile practices.
