The Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum (GMGSF) prior to Open Ended Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (OECPR) and the first session of UNEA 5 held yesterday on 9th February, 2021 in an online event that allowed Major Groups to discuss their input into this UNEA session and to exchange on other issues of importance.
This virtual Forum is self-organized by the Major Groups and second and third session will be held on 10th and 11th of February, 2021. The GMGSF took place prior to the first part of the fifth session of the Open-Ended Meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to UNEP (OECPR 5.1) and UNEA 5.1.

At the conclusion of the Forum, the Major Groups and Stakeholders are expected to agree on joint positions and statements to OECPR 5.1 and UNEA 5.1.
The GMGSF is open to all Major Groups (accredited or non-accredited to UNEP), with Member States invited to participate as observers.
Further online consultations by Major Groups and Stakeholders are expected to be organized in the lead up to the February 2022 meeting of UNEA 5.2, including a full-fledged GMGSF in February 2022.
