The youth-led rally, consisting of more than 180 participants from educational and research institutions along with government representatives was organized in observance of the International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week by the Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), UNICEF Bangladesh and Lead Exposure Elimination Project (LEEP). The global week of action, also known as the International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week or ILPPW in short, is an annual advocacy effort to raise awareness on the public health threat posed by lead pollution.
The event was graced by Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Senior Technical Advisor, ESDO, Rezaul Karim, Joint Secretary, MoEFCC, and Sabrina Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary, MoEFCC. Their inspiring presence has further encouraged the youths to act now for a safer Bangladesh.

সীসা বিষক্রিয়া প্রতিরোধ সপ্তাহ (আইএলপিপিডাব্লিউ)-২০২৬
“সীসার কোনো নিরাপদ মাত্রা নেই” – বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার এই বার্তা নিয়েই সীসা শনাক্তকরণ জোরদার এবং সীসা দূষণ প্রতিরোধে অবিলম্বে পদক্ষেপের দাবিতে আজ র্যালির আয়োজন করেছে এনভায়রনমেন্ট অ্যান্ড সোশ্যাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট অর্গানাইজেশন (এসডো)। তরুণদের নেতৃত্বে আয়োজিত এই র্যালিটি আন্তর্জাতিক সীসা বিষক্রিয়া প্রতিরোধ সপ্তাহ ২০২৬-এর প্রথম দিনে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাব থেকে কেন্দ্রীয় শহীদ মিনার পর্যন্ত অনুষ্ঠিত হয়, যেখানে অংশ নেন ১৮০ জনের বেশি তরুণ-তরুণী।
পরিবেশ, বন ও জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মন্ত্রণালয়, ইউনিসেফ বাংলাদেশ এবং লেড এক্সপোজার এলিমিনেশন প্রজেক্ট (LEEP)-এর সহযোগিতায় আয়োজিত এই র্যালিতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন: প্রফেসর ড. শাহরিয়ার হোসেন, সিনিয়র টেকনিক্যাল এডভাইজর, এসডো; মোহাম্মদ রেজাউল করিম, যুগ্মসচিব, পরিবেশ, বন ও জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মন্ত্রণালয়; সাবরীনা রহমান, সিনিয়র সহকারী সচিব, পরিবেশ, বন ও জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মন্ত্রণালয়; সুহান আহমেদ, রিসার্চ অফিসার, আইসিডিডিআর,বি।
এ বছরের প্রতিপাদ্য: “From Detection to Prevention” এই প্রতিপাদ্যের মাধ্যমে বোঝানো হয়েছে – সীসা বিষক্রিয়া হওয়ার আগেই প্রতিরোধ করতে হবে। সীসার ক্ষতি নীরবে ঘটে, কিন্তু প্রতিরোধ আমাদের হাতে। জানুন, সচেতন হোন, অন্যকে সচেতন করুন। সীসামুক্ত ভবিষ্যতের জন্য আজই পদক্ষেপ নিন।
