ESDO with support from Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), successfully started two days long “Plastic Free Campus Project: Orientation and Workshop for Teachers & Volunteers” at the NGO Forum for Public Health.
The workshop brought together teachers and volunteers to build knowledge and practical skills on plastic pollution, waste management, environmental health, and sustainable campus practices.
The first day featured engaging sessions on:
-Plastic: Definition & Life Cycle
-Waste Management & Zero-Waste Practices
-Environmental & Public Health Impacts of Plastic
-Practical tools and techniques for making campuses plastic free
-Systematic problems with synthetic plastics
Through this initiative, ESDO aims to empower educational institutions to adopt sustainable, practical, and replicable plastic-free practices, helping create healthier campuses and environmentally responsible future generations.
Day 2 of the “Plastic Free Campus Project: Orientation and Workshop for Teachers & Volunteers” brought participants together for an engaging day of learning, collaboration, and practical planning.
The sessions focused on building a clear vision for plastic-free campuses, integrating environmental education into teaching, and empowering students to become active change-makers.

–Expert Session on the Public Health Impact of Plastic Pollution, facilitated by Hasnat M. Alamgir, which provided participants with valuable insights into how plastic pollution affects human health.
A special moment of the closing ceremony was the heartfelt recitation of the poem “Amrai Bodlabo” (We Will Change) by Farjana Queen, Senior Teacher, Dinajpur Zilla School. The poem was written by Dr. Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General, ESDO, carrying a powerful message of collective responsibility.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks by Ishtiaque Uddib Ahmad, Former Chief Conservator of Forests, Forest Department, and Siddika Sultana, Executives Director of ESDO.
The day concluded with the certificate distribution and closing ceremony, celebrating the commitment and participation of teachers and volunteers who are ready to take the message of plastic-free campuses back to their educational institutions.
